Prayers Please

Hi everyone!  I am asking today for prayers.  I know this is kind of a silly thing to ask prayers for, but it is really important to me.

As I mentioned in my last post, our Superintendent of Education is an elected official and not appointed.  I have a very special friend, and co-worker, who is running for this position along with three other candidates.

Jerry Moore, our current Deputy Superintendent, is certainly the most qualified and is running for the sake of our children and for no other reason.  The other candidates are not currently in education.  One was a principal about 8 years ago, one is a former Memphis City teacher who was just let go because of job cuts, and one was once an assistant principal for a semester many years ago.

Now don't get me wrong, I do not know any of the other candidates personally so I can't really speak for their character, but I do know Jerry and have known him for a very long time.  I am so afraid that if he does not win this race, that our schools will be in major jeopardy.

So, I ask that you pray not necessarily for Jerry, but for our children and for our school district.  God has a plan and we may not know the reason for his plan, but what matters is that it's HIS plan.

Thank you for your prayers!  I'll let you all know the outcome of the election tomorrow.

God Bless,

I'm Back!

Hey you guys!  I know y'all all think that I've totally dissappeared but I promise you guys that it hasn't been my fault.  The tech people at work totally blocked me from blogger.  I mean really, can't girl get a break!  First facebook and now blogger... my work day is a total bore now for sure.

I am so excited about The Bachelorette coming on tonight.  I thought Ashley was a cutie during the Bachelor season.  I am so looking forward to seeing all her potential bachelors.

Well you guys I know this isn't much of a blog post, but it's the best I can do at the moment.  Hopefully I'll find more time to blog at home, but I'm not promising anything.

Later,

Anyway, Pioneer Woman is doing a HUGE giveaway.  Ree is giving away (4) $500 donations to the charity or cause of your choice, all you have to do is leave a comment on her giveaway and tell her what charity or cause you want your donation to go to should you win.

Ree doesn't stop there... she is also giving a quarter for every comment made to the victims of the recent storms here in the south.  How awesome is that!  Right now she is up to 18,204 comments which equals a donation of  $4,551.

This giveaway ends Friday May 6 at noon.  This is such an amazing opportunity to help many great causes.  Please go there now and comment!

Thanks Ree for such a generous contribution!  May God Bless you!

Weekend Recap and A Book Review.

Hey y'all!  Man, can you believe that it's already May?  I mean really, where is this year going and why is it trying to get there so fast!

How was your weekend?  Mine was just wonderful.

Friday night, we had a little get together for my friend Amber who is getting married in... oh... 18 days!  I didn't take any pictures :( but we did have a great time!  It's always nice to get away and have time with the girls.

Saturday some of the girls went to Double Decker in Oxford, but unfortunately I didn't get to go :(.  Some of our shingles blew off our house and caused a major roof leak in Tucker's room.  Since the forecast was calling for major rains again this week, Justin had to fix the roof which left me with no one to watch Tuck.

We just hung out around the house and spent time together... it was WONDERFUL!

Here are a few pictures of our Saturday.

The Easter Bunny brought Tucker this Ole Miss hat... we didn't think he would ever wear it but he did!

Tucker helping Daddy mow the yard.

We finally put sand in Tucker's sandbox... not near enough especially since he threw most of it out!

He loved it!

Our little visitor from next door.

Raking up the rocks with his new play rake his grandparents gave him.

Recently I had the chance to read Michael Oher's "I Beat the Odds: From Homelessness to the Blind Side".  I really love Ole Miss and was really excited when the movie about Michael came out.  Justin and I went and watched it and I cried like a baby!  It was very interesting to see the differences between the movie and what really went on in Michael's life.  If you haven't had the chance to read the book, I highly recommend you do so.  It's hard to believe that people actually live the way Michael lived before the Tuohy's took him in.

I am almost done with The Help by Mississippi writer Kathryn Stockett.  My SIL let me borrow the book and told me how much she enjoyed it.  I have absolutely loved reading this book.  The book is set back in segregated Mississippi in the 60's.  It's a fictional book of black maids giving their accounts of working for white men and women and then writing a book of their stories.  The book is kinda comical in a way and eye opening in another.  I would definitely recommend this book!

What are you reading?  I'm planning on reading "Water for Elephants", "Something Borrowed", and "Something Blue".  Any other suggestions?

Well y'all, I hope your Tuesday has been wonderful!  I'll be packing this afternoon for our mini-vaca which I'll be telling y'all about tomorrow.  Have a lovely day!
